Our Story
Studio Sargent is named in honor of the great American portraitist John Singer Sargent (1856-1925), an artist who painted women not as muses or symbols, but as individuals perched on the edge of thought, of decision, of motion. That sense of possibility is why his work remains so compelling.
Studio Sargent was born out of a lifelong fascination with art history, passed down from my mother, and the feminine, child-like excitement of feeling perfectly put together. This brand was created for the kind of women I've always admired and aspire to become—the Sargent kind: women who carry themselves with intention—elegant without spectacle, self-assured without needing to say much. That's character. And character is style.
Sargent understood that fashion was more than ornament; it was language. A slouched sleeve, the glint of sunlight on silk: all were deliberate choices that revealed something intimate about his sitter. He didn’t exaggerate. He elevated what was already there, using gesture, posture, and dress to convey character.
Despite the grandeur of his work, Sargent’s portraits are about presence rather than spectacle, the kind of confidence I hope women feel when they put on a pair of Studio Sargent shoes.
Studio Sargent shoes are crafted in small batches by artisans in Portugal. Every pair is made to be loved, lived in, and—above all—worn well.
With sincere appreciation,
